Gua sha is part of nephropathy treatment that stimulates the meridians and pressure points of the Human body. The name Gua Sha literally means “Scrape (Gua) Red Spots (Sha). The therapist uses a plate made of water buffalo horns that creates red spots on the skin which is believed to be blood waste being brought to the surface for release from the body. The use of a buffalo horn plate is an important part of the treatment as it is known to lower fevers and promote detoxification. Gua Sha has been known to help with joint stiffness, back pain, cold sensitivities, allergies, and the reduction of cellulite. Please note that the red spots may remain on the skin for up to 10 days after treatment. Gua Sha is not recommended for those who have heart disease, blood disease, high fever, tumors, skin disease, infections, psychosis, broken bones, pregnancy, menstruation, drunkenness, or those who have just finished a meal.
